Opera singer Carla Dirlikov

February 17, 2009

I met Carla when I was taking photos for the shelter. She asked if I would do some updated photos for her comp cards. I figured it would be fun and something different. I wanted to try out some ideas that I had for senior photography. We started with the general headshots and full body shots one needs and then moved on to the fun stuff.

Carla brought with her an *awesome* professional makeup artist, Shanna Norris, who did a *perfect* job for this sort of shoot. It was so cool to watch her skill and ability. I was also privy to seeing her put on opera makeup. Very cool. I have a special I am going to offer soon that will include her services as a professional make up artist. Details on that later…

Here are just a few of my favorites from this shoot with Carla. This was some of the most fun I have had in a while. Really got the creative juices flowing. Dot got to come along as a prop :)

Happy Valentines day!

February 14, 2009

Hope everyone has plans that are going to make them happy today!!! At least some chocolates. Chocolates go a long way with me. My husband Larry and I are going to Atlanta for a whippet nationals meeting. He is being sweet enough to ride down there with me.

On Wednesday of this week, I had the distinct pleasure of photographing celebrities at Young Williams Animal Center Michele Silva of WBIR News donated her time to the center and Carla Dirlikov, an internationally renowned opera singer also stopped by to help the animals.

What a cool day that was!! I have to say Michele was a great sport to listen to my making my sounds(those that have visited me for photos know of what I speak) as Carla had me do them over and over, as I guess they are a high F. I do not speak music, but, she said that is a hard note to hit. The dogs at least like them :) I am sure to human ears they are quite, uh, hard on the ears :)

Anyhow, thank you to both Carla and Michele for taking your time out to do such a philanthropic thing. The photos of the adoptable animals are on Young Williams site. They always have such sweet, adorable animals to add to your family. If you are thinking about adding another pet, stop by there and see if one chooses you.
